B1. Strategizing in the Beginning: CSR Program Formulation in Poverty and Education

A CSR program that proposes to address poverty alleviation has to do so in a holistic manner taking into consideration the needs of such communities and mapping the different stakeholders that could be involved as partners in such a program. Sustainable development goals can be achieved when the companies understand the difference between being a provider and being a partner.


Business for Social Progress: CSR Program for Integrated and Sustainable Poverty Alleviation by Apapan Kulapongse

Three CSR programs to promote sustainable rural development are highlighted. The Village Development Partnership is an integrated and sustainable poverty alleviation program gearing towards improvement of livelihoods and quality of life through a micro-credit program and various types of capacity building activities. Secondly, the Lamplaimat Pattana School is established to provide quality education access to rural children. Lastly, the Business for Social Progress model that allows private business sector to continuously contribute to social development is illustrated.
